We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Engineer / Project Director to join our Wollongong team. With the development and infrastructure sectors experiencing growth, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across Southern NSW as well as in Greater Sydney.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level support to the Head of Urban Services, Director and Leadership team on business growth, diversity and new business
  • Developing and defining project goals and objectives and communicating them effectively to the team
  • Planning, execution, and finalisation of projects according to strict deadlines and within budget across the full project life cycle. This includes the acquisition of multi-disciplinary resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan
  • Ensuring compliance with both internal and industry-specific regulatory standards  
  • Conducting regular project review and reporting on progress to the senior management team  
  • Ensuring project integrity concerning technical, quality, programme and commercial outcomes
  • Monitor and control project outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and deliverables
  • Take a leadership role in coordinating and managing the design team's resources to meet project and client milestones
  • Detailed oversight of design operations to ensure the responsiveness of the design team to clients, project managers and authorities is maintained at a very high level
  • Prepare fee proposals for new projects and contract variations that may span multiple disciplines both within and external
  • Identify future opportunities for continual business improvement

Skills and Expertise

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related field
  • 15 years of industry experience
  • Advanced knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic design principals
  • Understanding and compliance with Australian Standards and LGA road and drainage design principals
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience managing design and drafting activities
  • Experience in managing development and construction projects within a government, consulting or development environment
